The Salvation Army Brings Warm Meals and Warm Hearts This Thanksgiving

On Thanksgiving Day, The Salvation Army Tucson is ensuring that no one in our community goes without a warm meal or the comfort of togetherness. As part of its longstanding mission to serve those in need, the organization will provide free, freshly prepared Thanksgiving meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

The event will be Thursday, Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hospitality House, 1002 N. Main Ave., where volunteers and staff will serve a traditional Thanksgiving feast complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and all the trimmings.

“For many people, this may be their only Thanksgiving meal,” said Major Andres Espinoza, Tucson City Coordinator. “This is a time to show gratitude. We understand the challenges many are facing right now, and we’re here to provide not only a meal but also a sense of hope and community.”

The Hospitality House will feature a warm and welcoming atmosphere with Thanksgiving decorations made by local school children, entertainment, and an opportunity for attendees to connect with others. Many living in the Tucson community are struggling financially, undergoing homelessness, and some don’t have family they can share the holiday with. The Salvation Army will open its doors to anyone who wants a Thanksgiving meal, entertainment, and fellowship with others, and everyone will receive flowers from Mayfield Florist and pet food from Cody’s Friends.

Guests will enter through the Speedway gate entrance and form a line in front of the registration table. Doors will open at 11 a.m., and volunteers will escort each guest to a table inside the dining hall, where they will be served a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Inside and outside seating will be available, and Kids Unlimited will sing and dance inside during the meal and ManDrake will play instrumental music outside.

The Salvation Army Tucson relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to make this Thanksgiving Community Meal possible. Those who wish to contribute can go to salvationarmytucson.org or drop off non-perishable food items at the Hospitality House, 1002 N. Main., which are needed all year long.
