Broadway in New York City is shutting down all performances through April 12th to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to the New York Times,
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, citing public health risks from thecoronavirus pandemic, on Thursday ordered an end to all gatherings of more than 500 people, forcing an unprecedented shutdown of Broadway, the heart of America’s theater industry and the economic lifeblood for many artists.
All Broadway theaters have more than 500 seats, some more than a thousand.
Erika and I have a trip booked to New York City next weekend which will clearly have to be rescheduled. We had tickets to see SIX the musical and everything....We are so bummed! But we also understand it's for the greater good.
It will also impact so many lives- not just from an entertainment standpoint, but it the livelihood of the artists and tech workers in the theatre world.
