A new initiative is underway as The Salvation Army Tucson partners with Vantage West Credit Union for a November food drive event aimed at addressing rising food insecurity in the local area spearheading community involvement.

“The Salvation Army is incredibly thankful for community partners like Vantage West Credit Union,” said Major Andres Espinoza, Salvation Army Tucson City Coordinator. “This food drive and our partnership with Vantage West Credit Union allow us to provide assistance in areas where the most help is needed.”

Salvation Army donation boxes will be set up at thirteen Vantage West locations in Tucson for one purpose – to fill with non-perishable food items to help fight hunger this holiday season. Some suggestions are canned vegetables and beans, peanut butter, crackers, boxed cereals, applesauce, canned tuna and chicken, soups, pasta and sauce.

The Vantage West food drive will also help supply the warm Thanksgiving community meal at The Salvation Army Tucson Hospitality House on Thurs., Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"At Vantage West, we believe in strengthening our community by supporting those who need it most," says Jimena Valdés-Walls, SVP of Member Experience at Vantage West. "Partnering with The Salvation Army allows us to make a direct impact, helping provide essential resources and support to our neighbors in need."

Help fill plates and hearts in the month of November by dropping off food at any of Tucson’s Vantage West locations or make an online donation by visiting salarmy.us/VantageWestFOODDRIVE. Every donation made, regardless of size, will make a direct difference in someone’s life.
